Corona Update from India

COVID-19 is affecting the world as far as India is concerned number of cases here continues to increase. Bigger cities where they are having more testing done the numbers are increasing rapidly. The smaller towns like ours are still considered safe. Number of tests in small towns is next to nothing. We in India have entered into the 2nd month of complete lockdown of the country. Many reports are saying that health care workers and police are also getting affected by the virus. Some of the people who are affected do not want to disclose this and are trying to hide. If heath care workers and police go for investigations, they are attacked by the people in certain areas. The concern here is that if this virus starts to spread and the police starts to get infected then looting by mobs can easily start and things will get out of hand easily.

I see my country where millions of people are heading towards Christ-less eternity, people believe in almost anything and at this time this darkness is very evident. In this period, daily wage workers are being affected the most. Finding food to feed their families is the greatest challenge that many people are having since millions of people are out of jobs.

One incident that shook our entire area. Just a few days ago a village about 30 minutes (Jabera Village) towards metro-city Jabalpur from Damoh. A guy offered 5 rupees (less than 7 cents) to a 6 year old girl, took her away, raped her and with a knife tried to take her eyes out. Unimaginable is taking place.

When you see darkness like this around, you know that the answer to all this can come only through Christ, our teams and evangelists are working tirelessly not only to help people but to bring light in their lives. We know the situation is bad, but this situation is enabling us to open some new doors, since people are in fear and in need. We request you to please pray for our nation which you have helped and supported so generously over the years. Thank you Rochester Christian Church for everything.
